President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov attended the opening ceremony of the Monument "My White Ashgabat City" and Ashgabat amusement park. The festivities were timed to Ashgabat Day celebrated on May 25.
Thousands of Turkmen citizens gathered together on the square in front of Monument "My White Ashgabat City" built in the centre of the Turkmen capital opposite the Main Drama Theatre. Among those present were the cabinet ministers, Chairperson and deputies of Mejlis, Ashgabat Khyakim and heads of military and law enforcement agencies, ministries and departments. The guests of the ceremony were the heads of diplomatic missions accredited in Turkmenistan.
The Turkmen leader, who arrived with his granddaughter at the ceremony venue, were cordially greeted by his associates, who had come with their children and grandchildren there. Colourful balloons soared up the sky above the architectural and park complex, the core of which is the snow-white monument 25 metres high, to the accompaniment of solemn music.
