Ambassador of the Kingdom of Denmark accredited in Turkmenistan

On the instructions of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Chairperson of the Mejlis A. Nurberdyeva received the letters of credentials from Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Denmark to Turkmenistan Mr. Thomas Winkler. On behalf of the President of Turkmenistan, the Chairperson of the National Parliament congratulated the diplomat and wished success in his noble mission in enhancing the ties of friendship and cooperation between Turkmenistan and Denmark.

Thanking for the kind wishes, the diplomat underlined that it was a big honour for him to represent his country in Turkmenistan, which was recognized as a peacemaking centre that actively contributed to developing the ties of friendship and multi aspect cooperation with other states, and establishing a positive constructive dialogue in common interests.

During the meeting, the diplomat was informed on the key areas and priorities of the foreign policy of independent neutral Turkmenistan as well as the large-scale social and economic reforms taken place in the country on the initiative and under the leadership of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. Particular attention was paid to development of the spheres of science and education, which contributed to the successful integration of Turkmenistan to the world economic and information space. It was also underlined the huge significance our country attaches to development of the social infrastructure in regions, in particular construction of modern schools, hospitals, preschool institutions, cultural, sports, and health-improving centres in rural areas.

Briefing the guest on the structure and areas of the versatile work of the National Parliament, the Head of Mejlis underlined that the main goal of its work was to provide legislative support to the progressive reforms aimed at offering powerful incentives to progressive development of the Turkmen state and society.

The diplomat note that Denmark expressed keen interest in the intensive development of the economy and democratic changes of modern Turkmenistan, which was well known on the political arena due to the progressive initiatives put forward by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov with the aim to ensure peace and prosperity all around the world.

The sides specified the fuel and energy sector, agriculture, maritime traffic, education, and culture among the priority areas for developing cooperation.

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Denmark to Turkmenistan was received at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to discuss the opportunities of strengthening the mutually beneficial long-term cooperation.

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Denmark to Turkmenistan also visited the National Turkmen Carpet Museum and the sights of the Turkmen capital.
