President of Turkmenistan conducted a videoconference meeting

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov conducted a working videoconference meeting with the Vice Premiers and the khyakims of the velayats and Ashgabat.

The meeting agenda focused on the progress in implementing the social and economic reforms in the regions, the current situation on agricultural lands, the progress of construction of social, cultural and industrial facilities in the regions and other state policy issues.

During the videoconference meeting the velayat khyakims reported on the progress of seasonal agricultural activities and the preparation of agricultural machinery for the cotton campaign. The reports focused on the measures taken to develop infrastructure in the regions in accordance with the national rural development programme. The reports on the preparations for the new academic year were presented.

Commenting on the reports, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov dwelt upon the progress in implementing the national rural development programme and noted that consistent work should be carried out in this area and become the centre of attention for velayat khyakims.

Dwelling upon the progress of the preparations for the cotton campaign - the important period in the life of Turkmen farmers, the President gave specific instructions to the velayat khyakims.

The President emphasized that it was important to ensure that the ongoing construction projects in the regions should be completed according to schedule and meet the quality standards. The President also instructed to strictly monitor the preparations for the new academic year.

Ashgabat Khyakim R. Nurmammedov reported on ongoing construction work in the capital, reconstruction of existing and construction of new roads and creation of green areas. The Ashgabat Khyakim reported on the preparations for the opening ceremonies of various facilities, the construction of which was nearing completion in Ashgabat.

Commenting on the report, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov demanded that strict control should be taken over further development of Ashgabat. The President focused on the importance of preparing schools and higher educational institutions in Ashgabat for the new academic year and instructed the Ashgabat Khyakim to ensure the high level of organisation of the events dedicated to the new academic year.

Vice Premier A. Yazmyradov reported on the current situation in the agricultural sector, the preparations for the cotton campaign and the storage of fodder for livestock. The information on the celebrations in honour of Galla biaramy - an important event in the life of Turkmen grain growers - was presented.

Noting the importance of carrying out seasonal agricultural activities, in particular the cotton campaign, in a proper and timely manner, the Turkmen leader demanded that agricultural machinery should be used efficiently and effectively and agro-technical requirements should be met.

The Turkmen leader also instructed to take comprehensive measures to grow other crops, fallow the fields released from wheat and prepare for the winter crops sowing campaign.

Vice Premier S. Toilyev reported on the current situation in the sectors under his supervision and the fulfilment of the Turkmen leader's instructions.

The Vice Premier reported that the opening ceremonies of 59 schools for a total of 31,800 children, a specialized secondary school, the International University of Humanities and Development and 20 kindergartens for 3,255 children would take place throughout the country on September 1. These facilities will create over 3,000 new jobs.

Commenting on the report, the President instructed the Vice Premier to take measures to develop the relevant sectors, in particular the education sector, to strengthen its material and technical base and promote its organisational and methodological modernization.

Addressing the meeting participants, the President noted that the two holidays - Galla bairamy and the Day of Health Care and Medical Industry Workers - would be celebrated in our country in the coming days.

The Turkmen leader said that selfless farmers had worked diligently and enthusiastically and raised a bountiful harvest this year. Thanks to their efforts, the harvest campaign had been held according to schedule and grain growers had harvested over 1.2 million tons of grain. The Turkmen leader noted that this was a good result for the dry year.

Addressing the velayat khyakims, the President focused on the Day of Health Care and Medical Industry Workers that would be celebrated in Turkmenistan on July 21.

Noting that the opening ceremonies of the Cardiology Clinical Research Centre and the first aid centres and the ceremonies of laying the foundation stone of new health facilities would be held in Ashgabat and the administrative centres of the velayats to mark the Day of Health Care and Medical Industry Workers, the Turkmen leader instructed the velayat khyakims to hold the ceremonies in a solemn atmosphere.

In conclusion, the President said that the khyakims of velayats and etraps could spend their holidays at the recreational centres of their regions in Avaza after the opening ceremonies of new health facilities and grant leaves to their deputies upon returning.
