President of Turkmenistan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, General of the Army Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov chaired a meeting of the State Security Council. The meeting agenda focused on the work done by the military and law enforcement agencies in the eight months of the current year and the measures taken to modernize their material and technical base.

The heads of the military and law enforcement agencies presented the reports on the current situation in the sectors under their supervision and the fulfilment of the Turkmen leader’s instructions.

The Head of the State Border Guard Service reported on the situation on the sacred borders of the Motherland and the progress of building works on frontier posts.

The information on the progress in implementing the military reform aimed at strengthening the national army, modernizing its military and technical resources and improving the conditions of life and service of military servants and their families was presented.

The report on the measures taken to maintain public order and prevent delinquency, including on the roads of the country, was presented. The information on the programme of the Road Safety Month activities that started on the initiative of the leader of Turkmenistan on September 1 was presented. This year the Road Safety Month is being held for the second time.

The report on the specific measures taken by public procurator’s offices to oversee the strict observance of the rule of law in the state and society, the work done in the reporting period to improve the judicial system and bring it in line with the standards of international law was presented.

The report on the work done since the beginning of the year to improve and develop the legal framework of the country and the specific measures taken to continue the uncompromising struggle against illicit drug trafficking and drug abuse was presented.

Particular attention was paid to the preparations for the opening ceremonies of the international customs terminal and the new building complexes of the customs posts Artyl and Serahs Roads of the Ahal Velayat customs service of the State Customs Service.

Commenting on the reports, the President once again focused on the need to take a comprehensive approach to implementing the military and legal reforms aimed at optimizing the activities of the military and law enforcement agencies.

Other issues were considered and the decisions were adopted during the government meeting.
