Polling stations throughout the country open the doors at 8 a.m. today – the election of the President of Turkmenistan has been launched.
Since the election campaign was launched, all the legal requirements were met at the preparation stage of the election campaign and the organizational activity had been carried out according to schedule of the Central Commission for Election and Referenda. All the candidates had equal opportunity to run their election campaign. Eight presidential candidates are listed in the ballot paper. Election silence was observed on February 11.
The voters, who are absent from their places of residence on the day of the election for some reason, had an opportunity to vote by early voter absentee ballot. Their ballot papers are being kept in the sealed ballot boxes until the votes are counted.
Citizens can vote for their presidential candidates at polling stations till 8 p.m.
