Ms. Olga Zudova, Senior Legal Advisor, United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), Regional Office was received at the Mejlis of Turkmenistan and the Ministry of Healthcare and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan.
During the meetings the guest was briefed on the key vectors of the internal and foreign policy of the Turkmen state as well as the large-scale social and economic reforms taken place in our country under the leadership of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. It was underlined that the multi-aspect cooperation between Turkmenistan and the UN was an important aspect of the foreign-policy strategy of the Turkmen state. The meeting participants noted that it was proved by election of our country to the membership of several UN authoritative agencies, including the UN Commission on drugs and crime for 2012-2015.
In this regard, the meeting participants focused on the wide recognition of the efforts taken by the Turkmen state with the aim to enhance the international cooperation in the struggle against illicit drug trafficking and transboundary organized crime as well as the other global threats and challenges of the present time.
It was noted that the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime Regional Office highly appreciated and supported Turkmenistan’s adherence to strengthening peace and sustainable development making significant contribution to the universal efforts to ensure a safety climate on the planet. In this regard, a representative of the UN agency expressed keen interest in the further increasing of efficient cooperation with our country in the name of enhancing stability in the region and the world as well.
Within the framework of the visit, the guest will held meetings in other ministries and departments of the country, including the State Service on Drugs of Turkmenistan.
