The US Embassy in Turkmenistan jointly with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan held an event dedicated to the 20th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between Turkmenistan and US at the Ak Altyn Hotel in Ashgabat.
The joint action brought together the representatives of various ministries and departments of the country, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Education, the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, other higher educational institutions of the country, the Academy of Sciences, national libraries as well as journalists. The representatives of the diplomatic missions accredited in Turkmenistan were invited to attend the event.
Addressing participants, US Deputy Chief of Mission in Turkmenistan Susan A. Thornton underlined that US paid paramount attention to widening efficient cooperation with the Turkmen state as a reliable partner and noted that the main goal of the action was to promote enhancing the traditional ties of friendship and mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries.
An exposition offering an opportunity to see the new products in the sphere of computer technologies was opened within the framework of the joint event. The stands with books, newsletters and other printed outputs telling about the twenty-year history of development of the diplomatic relations between Turkmenistan and US were presented there.
