The first meeting of the Turkmen-Tatar joint working group on trading and economic, scientific, technological and cultural cooperation took place in Ashgabat. The heads and representatives of a number of the governmental structures, including the leading sectoral ministries and departments of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Tatarstan, the Russian Federation took part in the meeting.

The meeting agenda included the issues of intensification of cooperation in the trading and economic, fuel and energy spheres, agriculture, the spheres of transport, high technologies, mechanical engineering and shipbuilding. Particular attention was paid to cooperation in the humanitarian sector. It was underlined the significance of widening cultural relations, and establishing an efficient partnership in such areas as sport and tourism.
