The International conference “The 20th anniversary of the Constitution of Turkmenistan: historical experience of building a sovereign state” organized by the Mejlis of Turkmenistan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs jointly with the Ministry of Education, public organisations and the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan closed.
The heads and representatives of parliaments, prominent political scientists, public and political figures representing more than 20 countries of the world took part in the conference.
Within the framework of the section sittings the conference participants paid particular attention to the issues of historical significance of the constitution changes that promote enhancing the political, economic and cultural life of Turkmenistan, discussed the historical experience and modern achievements of the country along the way of developing the democratic legal state, and peculiarities of its constitutional system.
It was noted that at the modern stage of its historical development the Turkmen people put forward and implement the crucial initiatives with confidence demonstrating an innovative approach to solution of important issues of the modern time perceiving the indissoluble ties of the past and the present, and laying their own way into the happy future in the name of the progressive development of all countries and peoples of the world.
The general review of the foreign policy of Turkmenistan took place within the framework of the conference. It was underlined that the principles of peaceful coexistence, positive good-neighborliness and mutually beneficial cooperation stipulated by the Constitution of Turkmenistan lay the foundation of the peace-loving foreign policy off the Turkmen state that promoted increasing the prestige of Turkmenistan as independent neutral state and ensured its authority all around the world.
