From 12th to 16th of August 2024, a WHO advisory and technical mission was conducted in Ashgabat to strengthen the national laboratory capacity for antimicrobial resistance surveillance.
The mission included study visits to AMR surveillance laboratories, meetings with specialists, and a workshop with experts at various levels.
The main objective was to support the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan in developing National Guidelines for AMR Laboratory Surveillance.
The mission was organized by the WHO Country Office in Turkmenistan with the support of the WHO Regional Office for Europe. It was conducted by WHO/Europe consultant Dr Marina Suhorukova for her facilitation, technical support, and valuable advice.
This initiative strengthens national capacity for AMR surveillance and supports the «One Health» approach in Turkmenistan.
