A briefing for media representatives was held at the Archabil Hotel in Ashgabat, organized within the framework of the USAID Regional Water and Environment Project in Central Asia “WAVE” jointly with the State Committee for Water Management of Turkmenistan.

The event was dedicated to strengthening regional cooperation and discussing the importance of transboundary water management for the sustainable development of the region.

The WAVE project aims to develop technical capacity and support cooperation between Central Asian countries in the field of water resources management. One of the key objectives of the project is to address water issues through dialogue with all stakeholders, scenario modeling and facilitating interaction between different sectors. Transboundary cooperation in this area is essential for ensuring stability, economic growth and protecting ecosystems in the region.

During the briefing, representatives of the media of Turkmenistan, including journalists and eco-bloggers, were introduced to the concept of “water-energy-food-ecosystems”. This approach emphasizes the need for integrated water resources management, taking into account the interrelations between water supply, energy, food security and ecosystem protection.

The event also presented the WAVE project and its importance for Turkmenistan, where water management is a particularly important issue. Participants discussed the role of the media in promoting transboundary cooperation and effective water management, as well as the importance of changing public behavior in this area.

The event was attended by representatives of the State Committee for Water Management of Turkmenistan, USAID, as well as journalists and eco-bloggers from the country's leading media outlets, which contributed to an open exchange of opinions and constructive dialogue.
