The annual national meeting on influenza and acute respiratory infection surveillance in Turkmenistan took place in Ashgabat on December 23.  

Experts discussed the progress achieved and outlined the next steps within the framework of implementing the Pandemic Influenza Preparedness Framework. Participants agreed to enhance influenza surveillance measures, including zoonotic influenza, in both human and animal health sectors.  

An agreement was also reached on the need to promote the "One Health" approach to improve coordination of response measures.
