A delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross led by Ives Arnoldi, Head of the IRRC Regional Delegation for Central Asia, who had arrived in the Turkmen capital to participate in the celebrations in honour of the 20th anniversary of independence of Turkmenistan, was received at Turkmen ministries and departments.
A focus of the meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was further development of bilateral cooperation. It was noted that in recent years Turkmenistan had done the significant work on the implementation of key provisions of international humanitarian law in the national legislation. Exchanging views, the sides underlined the crucial role of the Interdepartmental Commission monitoring the implementation of human rights and humanitarian law commitments by Turkmenistan established in accordance with the Resolution of the President of Turkmenistan. In this regard emphasis was put on the IRRC’s willingness to enhance fruitful collaboration with Turkmenistan in this sphere.
