The delegation from Turkmenistan, consisting of representatives from ministries and agencies, scientific institutions, and the private sector, took part in the conference “Energy Efficiency of Refrigeration Systems in Light of the Phase-Out of Hydrofluorocarbons,” held on June 18 at the scientific-educational center “Kriofrost Academy” in Mytishchi, Moscow Region, Russia.

The public sector was represented by specialists from the ministries of energy, trade and foreign economic relations, industry and architecture, the Main State Service “Gosstandartlary,” the State Concern “Turkmenhimiya,” the State Customs Service, as well as the International Oil and Gas University named after Y. Kakaev. The private sector included companies servicing cooling and air conditioning equipment: economic societies “Sahra,” “Salkyn Otag,” “Beyiklik,” “Dashly Minara,” “Beko,” “Hova Ussasy,” and “Abrayly Maksat.”

The conference presented legislative, regulatory, programmatic, methodological, and informational-analytical documents necessary for implementing the provisions of the Montreal Protocol and the Kigali Amendment, along with the experiences of Russia and Belarus in this field. Opportunities for cooperation among countries in the refrigeration market were discussed.

Thematic reports were heard from Russian and Belarusian specialists concerning the establishment of minimum energy efficiency standards for refrigeration systems using natural refrigerants that are climate-neutral and safe for the ozone layer. UNIDO experts spoke about advanced practices and proposals related to phasing out HFCs and climate preservation.

The conference was the final event of several days of familiarization tours and practical training on advanced practices and safety techniques.

Representatives from Turkmenistan visited production facilities and trade sites where environmentally safe refrigerants are used. The event concluded with training sessions on the safe handling of natural refrigerants.

Participants received corresponding certificates.
