On the instructions of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Chairperson of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan A. Nurberdieva accepted credentials from Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to Turkmenistan Pham Suan Shon.
On behalf of the Turkmen leader the head of the Parliament congratulated the guest on the appointment to the high diplomatic post and wished every success in strengthening the ties of friendship and promoting cooperation between Turkmenistan and Vietnam.
Thanking for the congratulations and hearty wishes, the diplomat conveyed the greetings and cordial wishes on behalf of the leadership of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and the Turkmen people. The Ambassador emphasized that he considered it great honour to be accredited to Turkmenistan – the state whose peacefulness policy and progressive initiates had won it the high international prestige and assured that he would apply every effort to promote the dialogue between the two brotherly nations. Expressing sincere admiration for the achievements of the modern Turkmen state, Mr. Pham Suan Shon emphasised with satisfaction that they were society-oriented and served the basic interests of the Turkmen people.
Underscoring the importance of establishing firm and mutually advantageous bilateral contacts, the Ambassador said particularly that despite geographical remoteness, the peoples of the two countries were united by the common aspiration for peace and friendliness which would certainly lay a reliable platform for promoting fruitful interstate cooperation.
During the meeting the diplomat was informed in detail of the progress in implementing the large-scale social and economic reforms launched in Turkmenistan on the initiative of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to improve the people’s welfare – the ultimate aim of the Turkmen state.
The Ambassador was also informed in detail of the structure and versatile activities of the Turkmen Parliament, its lawmaking activity and international contacts.
The construction and building materials industries, the fuel and energy, textile and tourism sectors were mentioned among the priority areas of bilateral partnership. Emphasis was put on the importance of intensifying the cultural dialogue which facilitated strengthening the historically established ties of friendship and mutual understanding between the two nations.
