President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah, President of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), who had participated in the 60th meeting of the OCA Executive Board that had chosen Ashgabat to be the venue for its forum for the second time.
Greeting the President of Turkmenistan, the guest expressed sincere gratitude to the Turkmen leader Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on behalf of all participants of the OCA Executive Board meeting for providing support and assistance in holding the high-level forum and congratulated on the upcoming 20th anniversary of Turkmenistan independence. Emphasizing that the fact of holding such a high-level forum in Ashgabat testified to the success and fruitfulness of Turkmenistan-OCA cooperation and evidenced Turkmenistan’s commitments to promoting the lofty humanistic ideals of the Olympic movement, the Turkmen leader noted that a priority aspect of the policy of the Turkmen state was promotion of the health of the nation, physical and moral development of every citizen, particular of the younger generation of the Turkmen people. For this purpose the construction of large sports facilities meeting international standards has been launched in the Turkmen capital and all regions of the country.
During the conversation Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah informed in detail the leader of the Turkmen state of the outcomes of the forum which had brought together over 70 representatives of the OCA Executive Board, the Asian Games Organizing Committee. Highly evaluating the high level of organisation of the Ashgabat meeting, the guest emphasized that present-day Turkmenistan where the progressive reforms were taking place to guarantee the dignified life to citizens was an example for many countries of the world. A focus of the meeting was the 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games which Ashgabat would be hosting in 2017. Noting that the work had been started, the Turkmen leader emphasized that Turkmenistan would apply every effort to ensure the 2017 Asian Games to be a success.
