President of Turkmenistan meets with Chinese journalists

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received a group of journalists from the People’s Republic of China representing the Xinhua News Agency, China Radio International and the leading Chinese newspapers of the friendly country, including Renmin Ribao and Guang Ming Ribao.

Expressing gratitude to the leader of the Turkmen state for the opportunity of a personal meeting and his consent for an interview with the representatives of Chinese mass media, the guests cordially congratulated President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on the 20th anniversary of independence of Turkmenistan and expressed the wishes of happiness and wellbeing to citizens of Turkmenistan.

Greeting the journalists, the Turkmen leader noted that he was very glad to meet the representatives the leading electronic and printed mass media of the People’s Republic of China who showed great interest in modern Turkmenistan. President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said our country highly valued the current state of the interstate dialogue promoted on an equal, mutually beneficial and long-term basis and intended to step up constructive and fruitful cooperation between Turkmenistan and the People’s Republic of China.

The Turkmen leader briefed the guests on key state policy aspects and major objectives and aims of the ongoing social and economic development programmes. The Turkmen leader said Turkmenistan demonstrated the high growth of economy and ranked among dynamically developing countries of the world. Touching upon the foreign policy strategy of the Turkmen state, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said our country was committed to promoting wide international cooperation with all parties interested.

Answering the journalists’ questions, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized that Turkmenistan viewed the People’s Republic of China as a strategic and dependable partner which it had the ties of centuries-old friendship with deeply rooted in ancient times and significantly strengthened in times of the Great Silk Road as well as ambitious joint projects. These include the Turkmenistan-China gas pipeline, the largest gas main on the Eurasian continent which vividly illustrates the success of interstate cooperation.

Touching upon the prospects of Turkmen-Chinese relations, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov stated with satisfaction that nowadays they are actively promoted and filled with a new quality and content due to the high level of political confidence between the two countries as well as similarity in views on key issues of international significance. Noting that the profound potential existed to step up effective partnership, the Turkmen leader expressed belief that bilateral cooperation meeting national interests and priorities of the two friendly states would be successfully furthered.
