Ambassadors of the Republic of Estonia accredited to Turkmenistan

Chairperson of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan A. Nurberdieva received credentials from Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Estonia to Turkmenistan Jaan Hein on the instructions of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

On behalf of the Turkmen leader the head of the national Parliament congratulated the guest on the appointment to the high diplomatic post and wished every success in his efforts to strengthen the ties of friendship and intensify cooperation between Turkmenistan and Estonia.

Thanking for the kind wishes, the guest emphasized that his was the first- ever Ambassador of the Republic of Estonia to Turkmenistan and considered it a great honour to represent his country in the state that had gained high international reputation due to its peaceful policy rapid social and economic development.

During the meeting the diplomat was briefed on main aspects of the domestic and foreign policies of Turkmenistan, the objectives of large-scale reforms and changes taking place on the initiative of the leader of Turkmenistan and the ongoing ambitious projects in the country. In this context emphasis was put on the social policy of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov aimed at improving the quality of life of citizens of Turkmenistan. The Chairperson of the Mejlis mentioned ongoing social and economic development programmes and construction of schools, kindergartens, higher educational institutions, health improvement and medical centres, sports facilities, comfortable apartment houses launched throughout the country as an example

Touching upon the existing potential of bilateral partnership, the Estonian diplomat said the business circles of his country were interested in developing a full-scale dialogue. Mr. Jaan Hein noted that these issues would be discussed in detail during a visit of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Estonia to Turkmenistan scheduled for this month. The spheres of science, information and communication technologies, health, tourism and renewable energy sources were mentioned as the priority fields of collaboration. The possibilities for fostering the cultural dialogue that contributes to strengthening the ties of friendship and mutual understanding between the two peoples. The sides underlined the importance of enhancing inter-parliamentary contacts. In this context the Estonian diplomat said the group of friendship with Turkmenistan had been formed at the Parliament of the Republic of Estonia in order to facilitate fruitful collaboration between the highest legislatures of the two states.
