President of Turkmenistan receives UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who had arrived in the Turkmen capital leading a high-ranking delegation.

Thanking for the hearty welcome extended in the Turkmen land and the opportunity of a personal meeting, the distinguished guest congratulated the leader of Turkmenistan on the recently celebrated 20th anniversary of independence and conveyed the warm greetings of President of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who had expressed the wishes of happiness, prosperity and wellbeing to the Turkmen leader Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and the Turkmen people. The head of the foreign ministry of the friendly country noted that the UAE were keenly interested in fostering the fruitful dialogue with Turkmenistan that successfully put the unique, national model of development into life.

Greeting the distinguished and thanking for the kind words, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov congratulated him on the national holiday, the 40th Anniversary of the Establishment of the United Arab Emirates. The Turkmen leader noted that intensifying relations with Arab countries, including the UAE, was a priority of the foreign policy strategy of Turkmenistan that had been pursuing the policy of wide international cooperation in common interests since gaining independence.

Exchanging views on critical issues of cooperation, the Turkmen leader and his guest highly evaluated the dynamics of interstate collaboration enhanced in the whole spectrum of fields, particularly in the fuel and energy, investment, urban development, trade, cultural and other important sectors. The sides were unanimous that bilateral meetings, particularly top level talks, which laid the firm foundation for effective collaboration aimed at fully implementing the tremendous potential of the two dynamically developing countries, offered new incentives to foster cooperation.

The Turkmen leader noted that the UAE ranked among Turkmenistan’s strategic partners as was illustrated by dozens of ambitious joint projects of national and international significance. The increasing interest of the Arab world in collaborating to promote the large-scale reforms in Turkmenistan aimed at boosting an economic growth and developing social infrastructure was evidenced by regular contacts between the financial and business circles of the two countries.

It was noted that the fruitfulness of the interstate dialogue was conditioned to a larger extent by mutual understanding and similar views of Turkmenistan and the UAE on key aspects of bilateral and international cooperation. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan reaffirmed that the two countries sought to further long-term mutually advantageous cooperation and concert efforts to strengthen peace, stability and security on the planet. In this regard the UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs said the UAE fully supported all initiatives the Turkmen leader put forward to address urgent problems and challenges of modern times.

Upon concluding the meeting, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov invited the leader of the friendly state to visit Turkmenistan at any convenient time. In his turn the head of the UAE foreign ministry invited that Turkmen leader to pay a visit to the United Arab Emirates. The dates of visits will be adjusted through diplomatic channels.

At the conclusion of the meeting President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan expressed the willingness to enhance fruitful partnership and belief that the ties of friendship and brotherhood between the two nations would be strengthened further.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Arab Emirates to Turkmenistan Hasan Abdalla Al-Adab Al-Zarouni attended the meeting.

The talks with the delegation of the United Arab Emirates led by Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan were held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

A substantive exchange of views on the current state and prospects of the constructive interstate dialogue successfully promoted in the bi- and multi-lateral formats took place during the meeting. Noting that Turkmenistan and the United Arab Emirates took consistent efforts to promote relations demonstrating their commitment to the peace-loving foreign policy, the sides confirmed that the two states were determined to step up collaboration within the authoritative international organizations, particularly within the United Nations.

It was emphasized that Turkmenistan and the United Arab Emirates intended to enhance mutually advantageous mutually advantageous partnerships given the tremendous potential of the two states. In particularly, the sides called for establishing closer contacts between foreign ministries and conducting political consultations on a regular basis.

After the talks were concluded, the ceremony of signing the Agreement on the establishment of the intergovernmental commission for cooperation between the Government of Turkmenistan and the Government of the United Arab Emirates took place. The sides expressed belief that the activities of the newly established commission would facilitate enhancing the effectiveness of collaboration and contribute to intensification of fruitful contacts and enhancement of bilateral cooperation.
