President of Turkmenistan hands over battle flags to Turkmen military servants

President of Turkmenistan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Turkmenistan General of the Army Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov handed over the battle flags to students of the higher education institutions and military and law enforcement units. The ceremony took place in the Oguzkhan palace complex.

Military servants waiting for the national leader were drawn up in lines on the square in front of the palace complex. President of Turkmenistan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Turkmenistan General of the Army Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov arrived in the Oguzkhan Hall where the ceremony was held.

Secretary of the State Security Council, Minister of National Security Ya. Berdiev reported to President of Turkmenistan. The Turkmen leader received the report and heartily congratulated commanders and servants of the military and law enforcement agencies on the 20th anniversary of Turkmenistan independence and expressed the best wishes.

After the Turkmen leader greeted ceremony participants, the ceremony began.

The commanders together with the group of standard-bearers of the military units of the Ministry of National Security, the Institute of National Security of Turkmenistan, the Naval Institute, the Ministry of Defence, Denizkhan marines brigade of the Armed Forces of Turkmenistan, S. A. Niyazov Institute of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Border Guard Institute marched towards the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Turkmenistan to receive the battle flags.

After the commanders received the flags from Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, they knelt down and kissed the sacred banner in token of adherence to the oath of fealty, devotion to the Fatherland, the readiness to protect the native land under these banners as our heroic ancestors had done sacrificing their lives.

After the ceremony of handing over the battle flags was concluded, President of Turkmenistan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces General of the Army Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov gave the congratulatory address.

Addressing the ceremony participants, the Turkmen leader heartily congratulated them on the presentation of the battle flags.

“This ceremony is an unforgettable event for each of you. The battle flags you have received today will enhance your fighting spirit that is essential for the defenders of sacred independence, integrity and security of our state,” the President of Turkmenistan said.

“We are celebrating the glorious holiday of the 20th anniversary of independence of our Motherland with great enthusiasm, inspiration and outstanding labour achievements”, the Turkmen leader continued. “The Independence Day solemnly and widely celebrated throughout the country is the most important holiday for citizens of Turkmenistan. Our happy and prosperous life, our impressive achievements and Turkmenistan’s high international prestige are indissolubly linked with the accomplishments of sacred independence,” the Turkmen leader said.

Addressing the defenders of the Fatherland, the Turkmen leader Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov expressed belief that they would show fidelity to the Motherland, the people, the President of Turkmenistan and abide by the sacred oath.

“To defend the Motherland is the sacred duty, great honour and happiness. Therefore, you must protect our Fatherland, its independence and permanent neutrality and the Turkmen people as the apple of your eye. You should follow the example of our prominent ancestors Oguzkhan, Chagry Beg, Togrul Beg, Alp Arslan are the heroes whose courage, audacity and fortitude left an indelible mark in history,” the President underlined.

In conclusion the President heartily congratulated military and law enforcement servants on receiving the battle flags and wished them happiness, prosperity and every success in performing their solemn duty to the Motherland.

Military and law enforcement servants responded to the Turkmen leader’s speech with the thrice-repeated “hooray!”

The ceremony the participants including the staffs of higher education institutions and military and law enforcement agencies expressed deep gratitude to the Turkmen leader for handing over the battle flags and took the military oath.

Upon concluding the ceremony, President of Turkmenistan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Turkmenistan General of the Army Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov wished the ceremony participants every success in performing the solemn duty to defend the Motherland.
