Chairperson of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan A. Nurberdyeva accepted credentials from Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Slovak Republic Juraj Sivacek on the instructions of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov
The head of the Parliament congratulated the diplomat on the appointment to the high diplomatic post and wished every success in promoting the friendly dialogue between the two countries on behalf of the leader of the Turkmen state. In his turn, the Ambassador conveyed the cordial greetings of the leadership of the Slovak Republic to President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and expressed the best wishes to the Turkmen people. Mr. Juraj Sivacek emphasized that he considered it a great honour to represent his country in Turkmenistan which had won the high international prestige due to the peace-loving foreign policy strategy pursued by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. Taking an opportunity the Slovak diplomat congratulated the leader and people of Turkmenistan on the 20th anniversary of independence and wished great achievements on the path of peace, wellbeing and progress.
During the meeting the Chairperson of the Mejlis briefed the Slovak Ambassador of major aspects of the policy of Turkmen state and the objectives of the national projects and programmes launched on the initiative of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to promote economic growth and develop further the social sphere. The diplomat was also informed of the organisational structure and lawmaking activity of the Turkmen Parliament. The proposal to establish direct inter-parliamentary contacts serving as an essential factor for strengthening bilateral relations was put forward in this context.
Exchanging views on the priorities of Turkmen-Slovak partnership, Mr, Juraj Sivacek said his country was interested in expanding further effective collaboration with the Turkmen state and underscored the importance trade and economic, scientific and technical and cultural exchanges in this regard. During the meeting emphasis was put on the importance of cooperation within the international organisations, including particularly the United Nations and the European Union.
During the visit to Ashgabat Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Slovak Republic Juraj Sivacek was received at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Ministry of Economy and Development. A focus of the meetings was promising fields of cooperation between the two states. The Slovak Ambassador also visited the Main National Museum and the National Turkmen Carpet Museum where he could see cultural and historical values of Turkmenistan
