The XIV Conference of the World Turkmen was held under the chairmanship of the President of Turkmenistan, President of the Humanitarian Association of the World Turkmen Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov at the Mekan Palace in the Turkmen capital
The forum brought together representatives of the Turkmen diasporas from over twenty countries worldwide and the Association members from all over the country in Ashgabat.
Before the Conference was opened, participants laid flowers to the Monument to Turkmenistan Independence. The official opening ceremony was held in the conference hall of the Mekan Palace.
The XIV Conference of the World Turkmen like the other events in the anniversary year was held in a special atmosphere. The Turkmen leader reminded that on the Turkmen side’s initiative electricity was supplied to a large part of the territory of Afghanistan at an affordable price, humanitarian aid is provided to the Afghan people on a regular basis, over 330 kilometres of power supply networks had been built in the northern and south-western provinces of Afghanistan, the railroad bed stretching from the Turkmen border up to the Afghan settlement Turghundi had been renovated, higher education institutions throughout Turkmenistan trained Afghan specialists for various sectors of the economy of the friendly country.
