President of Turkmenistan attends ceremony of opening Palace of Congress
The ceremony of opening the Palace of Congress – the venue for the Elders’ Council meeting took place in Ashgabat on the eve of the glorious date – the 20th anniversary of independence of the Motherland. President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov attended the ceremony. This event marks a landmark in the history of the epoch of new Revival, a new critical step along the path of the progressive reforms initiated by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to strengthen and replenish the achievements of independence, lay the firm foundation for the prosperity of the Motherland and the welfare and happiness of the Turkmen people.
On that day a festive atmosphere reigned early in the morning on Archabil Avenue in Ashgabat where white-marble high-rise building had sprung up surrounded with green spaces. The heads and specialists of ministries and departments, news agencies, television and radio channels, public organisations, student and foreign guests’ gathered there to participate in the ceremony. Cultural and art workers presented a bright performance.
Everything was ready for the solemn ceremony on the square in front of the new Palace of Congress. The Chairperson of the Mejlis, the heads of ministries, departments and military and law enforcement agencies, the khyakims of all regions of the country and Ashgabat, the heads of diplomatic missions of Turkmenistan to foreign countries, the elders from all over the country, journalists and of course participants of the All-Turkmen forum – the Elder’s Council meeting gathered there to greet the President of Turkmenistan.
Those present enthusiastically greeted President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. Girls dressed in bright national costumes presented bouquets of wonderful flowers to the Turkmen leader. Following the tradition, the mullahs and elders offered bread and salt to the leader of Turkmenistan and offered up the prayers for the prosperity of the Motherland and good health, long life and new outstanding accomplishments in his versatile activity.
The artistic groups from all over the country presented a bright music and dance performance and the theatrical composition demonstrating their masterly performance and talent.
Then the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov headed to the main entrance of the new Palace of Congress and cut the ribbon to the applause of ceremony participants and guests. The Turkmen leader entered the hall and began his visit to the new building from the conference hall located on the first floor where international conferences and nationwide forums would be hold.
Addressing the elders who had expressed profound gratitude to the Turkmen leader for his unceasing concern for people’s welfare and sincere respect for the elder generation, the President noted that from times immemorial it had become a tradition of the Turkmen people to decide all vitally important issues together and reserve the right to adopt the final decision for the most respected countrymen. The hoary with age elders hoarded were always treated with respect and highly esteemed, and their advice and rich life experience were always followed. Nowadays this age-old tradition is maintained. The Elders’ Council is the unique institution of the Turkmen society, a bright symbol of genuine sovereignty of the people has gained a new status which is consistent with the aims and spirit of the new historical epoch, emphasized the Turkmen leader.
Then President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov took the lift to the fifth floor where he visited the offices supplied with state-of-the-art equipment and small meeting rooms.
In the conference hall President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held a working meeting with the Chairperson of the Mejlis, the Vice Premiers, khyakims of the regions and Ashgabat, the heads of military and law enforcement agencies. Opening the meeting, the President reminded that in few days the country would be celebrating the main national holiday – the Independence Day and demanded that all necessary measures to hold the celebrations in a proper manner be taken.
The Turkmen leader said the Turkmen people were known widely for their hospitality and in this regard the major task set today to the high-ranking officials was to receive foreign guests, including particularly heads of foreign states and diplomats, who were arriving from different countries of the world in Turkmenistan to attend the celebrations in honour of the 20th anniversary of independence of our Motherland, following the national traditions of hospitality.
Underscoring the significant role of the celebrations and cultural action in preserving the spiritual values of the nation, aesthetic and moral education of youth, promoting Turkmenistan’s present-day achievements, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov underscored once again the importance of the upcoming celebrations. Each of them must reflect the essence and significance of the progressive reforms of the epoch of new Revival launched in the interests and for the benefit of the Turkmen people and b consistent with the age-old spiritual traditions of the Turkmen nation, said the Turkmen leader instructing to hold the celebrations in a proper manner.
We must hold the anniversary celebrations in the capital and all regions of country in a worthy manner so that this historic date will dwell in the people’s memory as a big and wonderful holiday – the great holiday of our people marking unprecedented achievements and outstanding accomplishments of our beloved Motherland, emphasized the Turkmen leader.
At the conclusion of the meeting the Turkmen leader wished the participants good health and every success in their activity for the benefit of the Motherland and people. Then the Turkmen leader took the lift to the ground floor where he wrote an entry to the Book of Guests of Honour.
