The Altyn Ay Medal, the highest government award of Turkmenistan and the anniversary medal Türkmenistanyň Garaşsyzlygynyň 20 ýyllygyna were awarded to President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov during the Elders’ Council meeting in Ashgabat. The Resolution on the conferring of the title of Hero of Turkmenistan and the awarding of the anniversary medal was issued by the Mejlis of Turkmenistan.

Chairperson of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan A. Nurberdyeva emphasized that this had been done in appreciation of the outstanding services of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov for the Turkmen state and society, his profound contribution towards the wellbeing of the Motherland and a prosperous and happy life of the Turkmen people.

Since assuming office, the Turkmen leader has declared the concern for people’s welfare to be a state policy priority. This is vividly evidenced by unprecedented steps taken in Turkmenistan as well as the Turkmen leader’s prudent initiatives for the benefit of the people.
