President of Turkmenistan receives Head of the Office of the President of the Republic of Belarus

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received the Head of the Office of the President of the Republic of Belarus V. Makei, who had arrived in Ashgabat to participate in the celebrations in honour of the 20th anniversary of independence of Turkmenistan.

Expressing gratitude for the opportunity of a personal meeting, the distinguished guest handed over the message from President of the republic of Belarus Aleksander Lukashenko who had expressed the wishes of happiness, prosperity and every success on the path of outstanding accomplishments to President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and in his person to the Turkmen people. Congratulating the leader of Turkmenistan on receiving the high government awards, V. Makei emphasized that the title of Hero of Turkmenistan conferred to Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov became another evidence for the people’s respect and love and his invaluable contribution to great achievements of the epoch of new Revival.

Thanking for the kind words and expressing the best wishes to his Belarusian counterpart, the President said relations between the two states and their brotherly nations bound historically with the indissoluble ties of friendship and equal, mutually advantageous cooperation were dynamically developed.

In a businesslike, constructive atmosphere the Turkmen leader and his guest discussed the current state and prospects of long-term fruitful Turkmen-Belarusian partnerships emphasizing that vast opportunities to intensify productive collaboration in all key fields, including the chemical and processing industries, the trade and economic, agricultural, transport and communications and other priority sectors. The mutual interest in increasing the delivery of Belarusian agricultural and other specialized equipment to Turkmenistan and enhancing humanitarian cooperation, including in the spheres of science, culture and education.

Underscoring the mutual interest in promoting further bilateral partnerships that had resulted in initiating a number of ambitious projects in recent years, including the ongoing project of the ore-dressing and processing enterprise in Lebap Velayat, the President and his guest expressed belief that the traditional ties of friendship and multifaceted interstate cooperation would be strengthened further in mutual interests.

At the conclusion of the meeting V. Makei congratulated the Turkmen leader on the anniversary of state independence and wished new outstanding accomplishments and progress on the path of sovereign development.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to Turkmenistan E. Bariev attended the meeting.
