High-speed motor road Ashgabat – Turkmenabat will be built by Turkmenawtoban OJSC, the member of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan. President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov ordered to grant the credit 2.4 billion US dollars for this project on beneficial terms. Entrepreneurs proposed general layout with locations and technical characteristics of the highway.
High-speed mode of the vehicles is the main feature of future road, therefore it will not cross other roads or cycling tracks on the same level. The highway will have dozens of underpasses, big and small bridges including across the railroad and on intersections with other roads. Change of the speed mode will be provided by special lanes for thrust and brake. In addition, it is planned to build tubing road intersection connecting the highway with Artyk and Dushak settlements and Tejen and Mary cities.
The width of the highway with the first class road pavement will be 34.5 meters. The sides will be separated by special dividing lane. Every side will have a lane for emergency situations, drainage and metal fencing stopping the animals and people to go on the road.
It is proposed to use modern materials – high quality asphalt concrete, synthetic fabrics, grids, meshes and other materials increasing the durability of the layers, for better performance of multi-layer ground foundation and top pavement of the highway.
The highway will be provided taking into account the highest international standards. The entry and exit will have payment terminals. It will also has technical points with surveillance systems, traffic police outposts and service and maintenance centres.
Each side of the road will have recreation centres with shops, restaurants, motels, open and covered parkings, fuel stations and other auxiliary facilities, emergency communication points.
Opening of Ashgabat – Turkmenabat highway will allow improving the quality of logistic services, expanding international transit and transport infrastructure, increasing trade turnover with neighbouring states. The highway will give quick access for transit cargo traffic to Uzbekistan and farther, to ramified system of continental routes and connecting with Ashgabat – Turkmenbashy highway will give an opportunity of rapid and easy access to Turkmenbashy International Seaport.
