President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has received Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov.
Appreciative of the personal audience, the guest warmly greeted the Turkmen leader and conveyed a message from President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, who had also sent his wishes for peace and prosperity to the Turkmen nation. The Foreign Minister said that a state visit by the President of Turkmenistan to Uzbekistan in April 2018 had opened a new chapter in the Turkmen-Uzbek relations and would help to intensify and promote the mutually profitable partnership.
After thanking for the kind words, the head of state extended his best wishes to the leadership and the people of the friendly country. Stating with satisfaction a progressive character of the Turkmen-Uzbek dialogue in the political-diplomatic, trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian fields, the Turkmen leader emphasized the importance of enhancing the productive cooperation that serves the interests of the entire region.
During the meeting, the economic sphere (where the two countries can boast concrete results) was traditionally identified as a priority component of the bilateral relations. The transport and communication sector is also one of the key areas of the interstate partnership. The two countries’ combined efforts serve as an instrumental factor for building extensive transit-transport and logistics infrastructure.
The Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan highlighted that the very constructive dialogue had been established largely thanks to the trust-based and friendly relations between the leaders of the two countries. Fruitful cultural-humanitarian contacts are seen as an integral part of the bilateral ties and the Turkmen–Uzbek House of Friendship, whose opening ceremony in the city of Urgench was attended by the two countries’ leaders during the state visit by the head of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Uzbekistan, has an important role to play in this.
At the end of the meeting, the President of Turkmenistan and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan expressed confidence that the relations between the two countries, which are built on a long-term basis and the bonds of friendship and fraternity, would continue to develop for the benefit of the Turkmen and Uzbek nations.
