President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus Sergei Rumas, who arrived in our country to attend a meeting of the Council of CIS Heads of Government.

Expressing gratitude for the opportunity of a personal meeting and warm welcome extended to the Belarusian delegation, the guest conveyed warm greetings from President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko to the President of Turkmenistan.

Sergei Rumas reaffirmed the commitment of Belarus to traditional relations of friendship and fruitful cooperation with Turkmenistan, underlining the importance of bilateral agreements reached at the highest level and fixed in a number of interstate documents.

Addressing the greetings and best wishes to the President and the people of the Republic of Belarus, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said that Turkmenistan expressed the interest in strengthening and expanding the constructive dialogue, built on the principles of equality and respect for mutual interests. The Prime Minister was informed about the priorities of our country in socio-economic development, its prospects in the context of the modernization of industrial sectors, the creation of innovative industries and the development of new types of export products.

During the meeting, the President of Turkmenistan and his guest discussed the current state and primary issues of the development of Turkmen-Belarusian cooperation, covering various areas of trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian partnership. It was underlined the positive dynamics of bilateral relations and their potential, the existing opportunities. At the same time, the Turkmen leader identified important issues that need to be resolved as soon as possible.

One of the current trends was the supply of Belarusian equipment to our country, the continuation of established effective contacts in the field of education and training of highly qualified professional personnel. Thee President and his guest also spoke about the participation of the Belarusian delegation in the First Caspian Economic Forum as an important and large-scale event designed to promote the diversification of international cooperation.

The guest, who has visited Turkmenistan for the first time, also shared his impressions of the white marble Ashgabat, surprising with its beauty and purity, the magnificent architecture and reflecting the best spiritual qualities of the fraternal Turkmen people.

The President of Turkmenistan and the Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus paid special attention to cooperation in the CIS format and the agenda of the upcoming meeting of the Council of CIS Heads of Government, including joint projects aimed at enhancing partnerships within the Commonwealth.

During the meeting, the Turkmen leader and the head of the Belarusian government exchanged views on the possibilities of the both countries to contribute to the implementation of the impressive potential of cooperation among the CIS member states.

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus Sergei Rumas expressed confidence in the further successful development of Turkmen-Belarusian relations that meet the interests of the two friendly countries and peoples.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to Turkmenistan Oleg Tabanyuhov attended the meeting.
