President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received Managing Director of Foreign Affairs Department of the Liberal and Democratic Party of Japan, Head of the Secretariat of the Parliamentary League of Japanese – Turkmen Friendship Matsushita Shinpei who arrive in Ashgabat for participation in the opening ceremony of the plant for production of gasoline from natural gas in Ahal velayat.

Having expressed the gratitude for spared time, the guest conveyed warm greetings of the Emperor of Japan Naruhito and Prime Minister Sinzo Abe. Having highlighted that this is great honour for him to meet the President of Turkmenistan, Mr Shinpei noted that Japan pays great attention to the development of traditionally friendly dialog with our country, which is known in the world by its constructive peace loving policy and creative international initiatives.

Having expressed the gratitude for good words and conveyed best wishes to the Emperor and Prime Minister of Japan, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov confirmed the commitment of Turkmenistan to the course toward further strengthening of fruitful relations with the Country of Raising Sun. in this context, the Head of the State mentioned with delight steadfast dynamics of Turkmen – Japanese cooperation.

During the conversation, speaking of the perspectives of the partnership, the President of Turkmenistan and his guest noted the potential of bilateral relations in trade, economic and humanitarian spheres. Business contacts between our country and world famous Japanese companies, which work for many years in Turkmen market, are visual example of successful cooperation. At the same time, cooperation in science, education and culture has received new incentives.

Direct flight between Turkmenistan and Japan is to support this as well.

Special emphasis has been laid on the importance of further strengthening of inter-Parliamentary relations as an integral component of bilateral relations and on intensification of exchange of practice in law making activity.

It was also noted that Turkmenistan and Japan actively cooperates in multilateral format under competent international organizations and structures including the UN.

In the end of the meeting, having expressed the gratitude to the President of Turkmenistan for warm welcome, Mr Shinpei assured that from his side as the Head of the Secretariat of the Parliamentary Leagues of Japanese – Turkmen Friendship, he would put maximum efforts for development of fruitful relations between two states and nations.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Turkmenistan Takahiko Katsumata took part in the meeting.
