European models for Turkmen forecaster
Personnel of Hydrometeorological Service study European method of weather forecast. The training conducted by Spanish specialist Antonio Garcia Mendez is aimed at improvement of algorithm of processing the data for forecasting of adverse weather conditions.

The seminar continues series of lessons organized under regional project of modernization of hydrometeorological service in five countries of Central Asia in 2018 – 2020 under support of the World Bank.

International consultant, who has diploma of astrophysics and 40 years of working experience in Spanish Meteorological Service and European Weather Forecast Centre, made several computer programmes for facilitation of work with data received from radiosondes. Spanish guest made presentation about capabilities of different weather indexes and presented the practice of our region. He said in an interview:

- When I just started as a hydrometeorologist, many calculations of parameters of weather like dew point, thunder energy, equivalent temperature, adiabatic humidity, wind deviation and other were made using mathematic formulas. Then I got an idea to make calculations easier for their processing. I have developed an algorithm calculating interconnectivity of different weather parameters. I have written scripts for programme software, which are reflected in final diagrams helping verify the correctness of previous forecasts. One of my programmes is still used in the forecast centre of Madrid.

Participant of the seminar, 1st class weather forecaster Irina Galich noted in the conversation that the model presented by Mr Mendez is under test from the beginning of the year in Turkmen Hydrometeorological Centre. She thinks that method of analysis of conditions of formation of lightning rainfalls in the mountain areas and indexes of definition of wind speed in coastal zone as well as rough seas related to Caspian Sea are the most useful.
