Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Shinzō Abe exchange views on the prospects of the Turkmen-Japanese dialogue

The meeting of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Prime Minister of Japan Shinzō Abe had a meeting in the Akasaka Hotel in Tokyo.

Welcoming the distinguished guest, the Prime Minister of Japan thanked the President of Turkmenistan for accepting the invitation to visit Tokyo and taking part in the festivities on occasion of Emperor Naruhito’s accession to the throne as well as for the attention paid to issues of interstate relations. Moreover, the high interest of the Land of the Rising Sun in the further development of mutually beneficial cooperation with Turkmenistan was confirmed.

Prime Minister Shinzō Abe also thanked President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov for the trust placed in Japanese companies, working on the Turkmen market and participating in major projects.

Thanking for the cordial welcome, the President of Turkmenistan noted that he was happy with the opportunity to meet with the head of the Japanese government. The Turkmen leader congratulated Prime Minister Shinzō Abe and the people of Japan congratulations on Emperor Naruhito’s accession to the throne.

Expressing satisfaction with the new dynamics of bilateral cooperation, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Shinzō Abe for his personal attention and keen participation in the development of Turkmen-Japanese relations.

According to President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, Turkmenistan and Japan efficiently cooperate in the format of international structures that is proved by the mutual support of constructive initiatives and proposals put forward within the framework of authoritative organizations of global and regional scale.

Specifying trade and economic relations as one of the priorities of the bilateral partnership, the President emphasized that at present, Turkmenistan and Japan had built up strategic and long-term cooperation in this area. That is vividly exemplified by the successfully implemented projects for the construction of oil and gas and gas chemical complexes.

At the same time, the Turkmen-Japanese dialogue is successfully developing in the cultural, scientific and educational fields. President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted that our country welcomed the intensification of these contacts and gratefully accepted the assistance provided by Japan in training of specialists.

During the meeting, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Prime Minister Shinzō Abe exchanged views on the prospects of the Turkmen-Japanese partnership.

At the end of the meeting, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Prime Minister Shinzō Abe expressed confidence in expanding interstate cooperation and exchanged good wishes to each other, as well as to the peoples of the two countries.
