The representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, deputies of the Verkhovna Rada, government officials, local citizens, businessmen, the members of the Turkmen diaspora and students, getting education at universities in Kiev attended the event, organized by the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Ukraine.
Students and representatives of the creative intelligentsia recited Magtymguly's poems in Turkmen and Ukrainian at the monument to the poet.
Toili Ataev, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to Ukraine, greeted all those present and told about Fraghi’s life and work, his contribution to the development of the Turkmen and world literature. Touching upon the Turkmen-Ukrainian cooperation, the ambassador underlined the great importance of the dialogue in the cultural, scientific and educational sphere.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Viktor Mayko, Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine congratulated the Turkmen people on the Day of Workers of Culture and Arts as well as the Poetry of Magtymguly Fraghi, celebrated on June 27. Underlining the great personal contribution of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to the preservation and enhancement of mental values, the popularization of the rich historical and cultural heritage of the Turkmen people in the world, he wished prosperity to Turkmenistan. It was expressed the belief in the positive dynamics of interstate cooperation for the benefit of the peoples of the two countries.
Magtymguly scholar, translator of a number of works by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in the Ukrainian language, professor N.S. Vaskiv congratulated the Turkmen people on the holiday. The famous scientist spoke about the life and work of Magtymguly Fraghi and his personal attitude to his poetry by reading the poet’s patriotic lines.
