President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov pays significant attention to the issues of developing the physical culture, health-improving movement and sports, modernizing and widening the modern infrastructure in this sphere.
The Turkmen leader regularly practice various sports, including riding, cycle and motor racing, track and field athletics, martial arts, tennis, etc. By tradition, the President devoted the half of his day off to sports.
Arriving at the Olympic Village under construction together with the Chairperson of the Mejlis, Vice Premiers and heads of military and law-enforcement agencies, the Turkmen leader considered the new facilities of the grandiose complex and visited the gyms supplied with modern sports equipment. The President and the government officials played volleyball and table tennis there.
Speaking with the officials, the Turkmen leader underlined that Turkmen people should regularly practice physical culture and sports. Playing volleyball and table tennis, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, as always, demonstrated the good shape, which he achieved due to practicing various sports.
After the sports exercises, the Turkmen leader and top level officials drank tea made from healing herbs described in the many-volumed work by the Turkmen leader, Academician of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, Doctor of Medical Sciences Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov "Medical Herbs of Turkmenistan".
On the way to the Ahalteke Equestrian Complex, the President stopped at the intersection of the Andalib Street and Kopetdag Avenue, where the sculpture of the famous horse Yanardag, whose image is depicted on the State emblem of Turkmenistan, will be installed. The President presented his view of the composition and suggested to place the sculptures of foals near Yanardag. The Turkmen leader noted that such an artistic expression would serve as a symbol of the succession of the national horse-breeding traditions, the embodiment of the continuity of the Ahalteke breed history.
During the visit to the Ahalteke Equestrian Complex, new horse Shatlyk was presented to the Turkmen leader, a skillful horse rider, connoisseur and experts of 'heavenly horses'.
The Turkmen leader walked with the horse establishing the friendly confidential contact with the animal as if giving the horse time to get accustomed to the new rider. The horse felt the sincere relation and skillful treatment of the Turkmen leader.
Riding the horse, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov run the 1,200-meter distance with high results.
Upon completion of the visit to the Ahalteke Equestrian Complex, the Turkmen leader and the high-ranking officials continued the sports routes riding bicycles. Before cycling, the President paid attention to trees planted along the road and suggested to organize the national planting campaign next Saturday.
During the cycling, the President of Turkmenistan considered the newly-constructed buildings and the progress of development of the new districts in the Turkmen capital. Upon completion of the cycling, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov thanked the officials for their participation in the health-improving action and presented them the commemorative coins minted by the Central Bank of Turkmenistan on occasion of the 20th anniversary of the introduction of the national currency of our country.
According to the Turkmen leader, the main goal of the state policy in the sphere of sports, that is an important component of the social strategy is the education of healthy and spiritually strong generations.
