Scientists of scientific and production center of agricultural farm of Turkmen Agricultural Institute have bred new species of cotton, which was named Ashgabat 140 in honor of the anniversary of the country’s capital.

Long-term painstaking work of the breeders allowed making species, which is better than previous ones by many parameters. The recommendation of Scientific and Technical Council for introduction of Ashgabat 140 cotton under the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment Protection of Turkmenistan noted that new species is distinguished with improved characteristics in such parameters as early ripping, high productivity and length of fibers.

As a basic material for breeding of new perspective species, we have selected several samples, - head of scientific and production center, Candidate of Agricultural Sciences Gurbandudrdy Novruzov says. Required species was received in the result of crossbreeding of Yolten-19, Aş-21and IRCO (Zambia) species in 2011.

For the long time, the breeders made comparative tests of new species with cultivated breeds at the experimental field in Anau. Finally, the confirmation on recognition of new species, which is recommended to be cultivated in the regions of the country, has come in the middle of April.

Ashgabat 140 has become a gift from the team of scientific and production center of agricultural complex to the anniversary of our capital.
