Turkmenistan is the largest gas power, where population at large uses network or pipeline natural gas. The Law of Turkmenistan "On Hydrocarbon Gas and Gas Supply" defines the principles of the state policy in the gas sector and gas supply, one of which is to increase the gas infrastructure development on the territory of Turkmenistan, based on the national gasification programme. The main gas supply system in the country is the unified gas supply system for domestic consumers.
As part of the implementation of the National Rural Programme, newly built houses are supplied with drinking water, electricity and natural gas. Gas communications are laid to new buildings in all regions of the country, including the most remote villages. Along with metal pipes, polyethylene pipes of various diameters, produced domestically, are used while laying gas pipelines.
As reported by the "Oil and Gas" publication, by the beginning of this year, specialists of the construction and installation department for gasification of the Mary velayat completed works on the provision of natural gas to the population of the Watan Peasant Association. The laid gas pipeline is 10,468 meters long. The main source of gas supply to the high-pressure circular gas pipeline is the Shatlyk gas distribution station.
Recently, the publication has reported that the gas infrastructure is expanded in the new residential areas in the Lebap velayat. Large-scale work in this direction is carried out by the Dovletlietrapgaz enterprise of the Lebapgazupjunchilik administration. Recently, natural gas infrastructure has been extended in the ancient village of Hatab, on the territory of which a six-kilometer gas pipeline was laid.
Gas workers pay great attention to the stable operation of the gas pipeline network, ensuring high reliability of gas pipelines, gas distribution and gas control equipment. In addition, specialists regularly conduct explanatory and campaigning work among the population about the rational and safe use of natural gas.
