Implementation of the Global Compact on Migration discussed in Turkmenistan

A regular meeting of the Interdepartmental Working Group of Turkmenistan on the implementation of the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Legal Migration was held. The online meeting was organized by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) - the United Nations Agency for Migration in partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the State Migration Service of Turkmenistan.

The key topic of the meeting is the discussion of preparations at the national level for the International Review Forum on Migration, which is scheduled to be held from 10 to 13 May at the UN Headquarters in New York. In this regard, the coordinator of the Working Group - the State Migration Service of Turkmenistan noted the readiness of all members of the group to participate in the preparation process for this Forum.

The Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration is the world's first global agreement prepared under the auspices of the UN on a common approach to international migration in all its dimensions. It was adopted at the Intergovernmental Conference on Migration in Morocco on December 10, 2018 with the aim of strengthening international cooperation in this area.

The Global Compact lists 23 goals for managing migration processes at the local, national, regional and global levels.
