Recently, the original UNESCO document on the insertion of the Turkmen traditions of making dutar and the art of playing it on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity was delivered to the capital of Turkmenistan.

In this regard, the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Republic of Armenia considers it expedient to re-emphasize the popularity of Turkmen folk music among the peoples of the world. So, in 2019, on the occasion of the celebration of the 295th anniversary of the great Turkmen poet and thinker Magtymguly Pyragy, bakhshis-musicians from Turkmenistan visited the country by the invitation.

As part of the visit, they became guests of the morning program aired on the Public Television of Armenia “H1”, where they shared with the friendly Armenian people the features of bakhshi singing, the subtleties of playing such folk instruments as dutar and gyjak. At the end of the conversation, they performed the works of Orazmyrat Annanepesov "Arkadag", demonstrating the melodic and gentle sound of the dutar. The musicians also performed at the scientific conference "Magtymguly Pyragy in the History of World Culture" at Yerevan State University.

The visit of the Turkmen bakhshis ended with a joint Turkmen-Armenian concert of folk music. Playing the dutar and gidzhak, accompanied by the sharply contrasting high voice of the bakhshis, alternated between Armenian folk music duduk, canon and oud, mentally moving the audience either to the wide Turkmen steppes or returning back to the mountainous heights of Armenia.
