The Paralympic athletes of Turkmenistan will take part in the IV Asian Para Games, which will be held from October 9 to 15, 2022 in Hangzhou, China. The corresponding official invitation from the Organizing Committee of these games was received by the National Paralympic Committee of Turkmenistan (NPCT).

Athletes with disabilities from 45 countries are expected to take part in the 2022 Asian Para Games, which include competitions in 22 sports.

As Yusup Jafarov, general secretary of the NPCT, told the ZV correspondent, the Turkmen team plans to present its athletes in two disciplines in the upcoming Asian para games - para powerlifting and para athletics.

The Paralympic athletes of Turkmenistan have been regular participants in the Asian Para Games since the adoption of the NPCT in 2010 as full members of the Asian Paralympic Committee. From 2010 to 2018, Turkmen Paralympic athletes won a total of six medals at the previous three Games. They were brought to the treasury of the team in powerlifting by Sergey Meladze (bronze - in Guangzhou-2010, silver - in Incheon-2014 and bronze - in Jakarta-2018), Mayagozel Ekeeva (bronze - in Guangzhou-2010 and bronze - in Incheon-2014) and Valentina Simakova (silver - in Incheon-2014).

Along with an official invitation from the organizers of the upcoming competitions, the National Paralympic Committee of Turkmenistan received the mascot of the Asian Para Games 2022 in Hangzhou - the Chinese bird Feifei, which, according to legend, brings happiness.
