President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov conferred the title of "Honored Artist of Turkmenistan" to three artists of the country.

According to the Decree of the head of state, the titles were given to: musician of the variety and symphony orchestra of the State Circus of Turkmenistan Serdar Amangeldyevich Haydarov, specialist in work with children and adolescents of the cultural center of the culture department of the Bereket etrap of the Balkan velayat Aly Tachgulyevich Alyyev and concertmaster of the Bakhshi House of the city of Mary, Mary velayat Azat Amanmuhammedovich Oramadov.

In the light of this joyful event, a solemn event was held at the Mukams Palace of the State Cultural Center, where cultural workers who received such a high assessment of their professional and creative activities were honored. By making a significant contribution to the development of the musical art of Turkmenistan, the artists popularize and bring national music to a higher level.

We talked with Serdar Khaydarov about the folk wind instrument - the Turkmen tuyduk. Composer and multi-instrumentalist, not only composes and performs music, Serdar Amangeldyevich also makes musical instruments.

And it all started back in early childhood, when, as a little boy, he attended a circle of dutarists. Having once heard the iridescent sounds of the Turkmen flute - gargy-tuyduk, the musician promised himself to master the art of playing it.

Soon, the national musical instrument became not only a subject of study, but also turned into a craftsmanship. The musician learned how to make tuyduk on his own, and today his collection includes many hand-made reed flutes.

The book of the respected President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov "Bakhshi - harbingers of people's happiness" says:

“Gargy-tuyduk is one of the ancient musical instruments of the Turkmen, it was created long before our era.

Gargy-tuyduk is made from a special kind of reed and is a hollow tube 80–85 cm long with five upper and one rear holes. A metal

mouthpiece. During the performance of tuydukchi, they swing their body, from time to time raising the instrument up.

In ancient times, bakhshis often sang to the accompaniment of gargy-tuiduk. Famous performers on this instrument in different years were Dovletdurdy tuydukchi, Peydaguly tuydukchi, Agadzhan tuydukchi and

their followers are Sakhet Porsyev, Yazmuhammet Kose and others.”

According to Serdar Khaydarov, it is the Turkmen tuyduk that is able to convey all the beauty of the desert, to imagine caravans moving along the sands and the rustle of wind among the dunes. Therefore, for a new instrument, he does not go to the store, but to the places where the local variety grows - “gargy gamysh”, from which he makes gargy-tuyduk with his own hands.

Continuing the traditions of Turkmen folk music, Serdar Khaydarov tries to interest talented youth in studying gargy-tuduyk. The musician also works on instrumental collaborations, combining the sound of classical musical instruments with the extraordinary beauty of the sounds of gargy-tuyduk. This only confirms the fact that classical music is closely related to folk music.
