On March 22-23, 2022 Acting Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov is visiting Pakistan to attend the 48th session of the Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), which began on Tuesday at the parliament building in Islamabad. The annual meeting of the heads of foreign policy departments of Muslim countries is held under the motto "Building a partnering for unity, justice and development." At the beginning of the meeting, the chairmanship of the 48th session of the Ministerial Council was transferred to Pakistan.

The Acting Head of the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan in his speech informed about the results of the elections of the President of Turkmenistan and expressed gratitude to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation for the support provided to Turkmenistan and the active participation of observers from the OIC in the process of monitoring the election process.

R. Meredov emphasized the importance of the policy of neutrality in establishing peace, stability and security, and in this context noted the importance of the resolution "The role of a policy of neutrality in maintaining and strengthening international peace, security and sustainable development in the OIC area and globally".

Another initiative of Turkmenistan was also emphasized - the formation of a new philosophy of modern international relations, called “Dialogue is a guarantee of peace”, put forward by the President of Turkmenistan in December last year.

Speaking about the issue of supporting Afghanistan, it was emphasized that the position of Turkmenistan is based on the understanding of the unity of the political, economic and humanitarian aspects of the Afghan problem.

Noting the importance of interconnectedness as one of the factors of sustainable development, the head of the Turkmen delegation focused on the need for further development of partnership in the field of international transport.

In this context, the forum participants were informed about the Ministerial Conference on Transport for Landlocked Developing Countries, which will be organized by the United Nations in cooperation with the Government of Turkmenistan in August 2022 in Turkmenistan.
