Staging of “Dyali Domrul” by the Main Drama Theatre of Turkmenistan, made by motif of “Gorkut-Ata” epic, is a bright première of new theatre season. According to theatre experts, new staging is unordinary event in theatre life of the country, first of all, by the power of its emotional influence of spectators’ perception. Set design of the play is distinctive by inspired picturesqueness and compositional harmony. The yurt, which walls covered by falling wool threads reminding the base of unfinished carpet, is uniting beginning of the performance. It seems as if skillful carpet-maker is going to tell old legend during the break in the work. Two musicians are at the edge of the stage and under backing of dutar and gyjak, the stage act, weaved from intricate story lines, envelops.

National artist of Turkmenistan Kakajan Ashyrov is a playwright and production director of “ Dyali Domrul”. The audience is used that this master literally revive the stage in his plays. The yurt in “ Dyali Domrul”, which looks like a carpet is being shrank or expanded depending on the act performed inside. The theatre design set is just beautiful decoration of emotional and philosophic content of the narration. Its parable harmonically co-exists with light script of humor scenes in the spirit of Hoja Nasreddin’s jokes.

But all of a sudden, Domrul’s wife, magic beauty Nyazlichichek appeared in front of the guests. Undoubtedly, she is a token character of the play. The more you watch the beauty, the more you admire her. For instance, how clevery she tricked with watermelon the squeamish bodies of Domrul… Would her beauty, intellect and wit allowed her to become the main character of the play especially after she was the only one from close Domrul’s environment to sacrifice herself for his salvation. But then the play would have another interpretation… Kakajan Ashyrov accented the attention of the audience at philosophic perception of Dyali Domrul image.

The semantic dominant of the play is a value of human life and the author demonstrated it by example of the main hero, who, having felt coming end at the meeting with the angel of death, reviewed his opinions on life and relations with people. He have had enough nobility to decline the sacrifice of his wife and he repented for many things in his life including for the bridge built for personal enrichment.

The casting of the artists became a big success for the director. Honoured artist of Turkmenistan Enish Yazmuradov perfectly played the role of dare-devil broad-shouldered strong man Dyali Domrul. His loud speech, abrupt movements, categoricity of the opinions exactly reproduced the character of the hero, charismatic and able to do out of the ordinary things. By the way, “dyali” is translated as mad.

Young actress Dilshat Melaeva had a chance to playthe triumph role of Nyazlichichek. She scrupulous copied the play of the first performer of this role – Gulnabat Ashyrova. The director, having immediately noticed that, but did not make any criticism, remembering the address of Rafael to his students: “ At first, you would better learn how to paint like me and the, paint better than me”. With the time, Dilshat got the feeling of the role, having managed to highlight the merits of the outstanding character owing to her talent of impersonation.

Initially, the sow was played quarter of century ago and was awarded with different prizes at international festivals. The history of its origin is very interesting. Once in the morning, while being at working trip. Kakajan Ashyrov heard bakhshy’s music on the radio. While the music was played, the story of new play was born in his mind. Upon his return home, the director learnt that the name of the melody was “Demise of Life”. Such symbolical coincidence with the story of the play, where the angel of death as well as inconstancies of the main hero, who was not willing to lose his life, determined the fate of the screenplay. Rehearsal of the play were carried out under this tune and it underwent several acoustic backings adjusted for stage play.

“Dyali Domrul” play, reproduced after quarter of century, has managed to keep character details of initial version including colourfull and fine dress of Nyazlichichek. Refined musicality, uncommon set design, talented lay of actors, all of these enhanced that the play was talked over as bright event of new theatre season.

We congratulate producers of the play with winner title of the competition declared by the President of Turkmenistan among literature, cultural and art workers!
