The State Energy Institute of Turkmenistan is 25 years old

A quarter of a century ago, on August 12, 1997, the State Energy Institute of Turkmenistan was established on the basis of the Higher Technical College of Mary, which is now under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Energy of Turkmenistan.

The university trains highly qualified specialists for the rapidly developing energy, industry and communications of the country based on advanced educational methods. There is an "Electronic Learning Center", which was created to improve the quality of the scientific and educational activities of the Institute on the basis of the Concept for the Development of the Digital Education System in Turkmenistan.

The electronic training center accumulates constantly updated video and audio recordings of lectures, practical and laboratory classes in all disciplines taught. The complex of technical means and software of the e-learning center provides additional innovative opportunities for improving the educational and methodological quality of classes.

The main areas of education at the State Energy Institute of Turkmenistan are: electrical and thermal power engineering; mechanical engineering; economics and Management; electronics, radio engineering and communication systems; Information Security; control in technical systems. Training of bachelors is carried out in the field of information and measuring equipment and technologies, electric power industry and electrical engineering, infocommunication technologies and communication systems, information security management.

The indicators of the quality of education at the university are the achievements of its faculty, as well as the success of students who actively participate both in interuniversity subject competitions and in international Internet Olympiads.

Only in 2022, second-year student M. Annaev took first place in the VIII Open International Internet Olympiad in the discipline "Mathematics", organized by the National Research University of Information Technologies, Mechanics and Optics of St. Petersburg, and in the Open International Internet Olympiad in the disciplines " Physics” and “Chemistry”, held in Yoshkar-Ola of the Mari El Republic of the Russian Federation, students of the State Energy Institute won two bronze, three silver and two gold medals.

The educational activities of the university are organically combined and supplemented by research work. After the transfer of the Institute of Solar Energy of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan to the State Energy Institute in 2019, the university became a leader in creating the scientific foundations of alternative energy, energy efficiency and other innovative areas of practical importance for the national economic complex of the country.

The research and production center "Renewable Energy Sources" has been created at the university, the structure of which includes several laboratories. They conduct scientific research in such areas as the technology of photovoltaic converters; solar energy concentration and solar technology; bioenergy and development of biomass production technologies; electric energy storage technology, etc.

Employees of the Scientific and Production Center of the State Energy Institute have developed a project for the first in Turkmenistan hybrid solar-wind power plant with a capacity of 10 MW, which will be built in the Serdar etrap of the Balkan velayat.

In addition, the State Energy Institute develops international relations with prestigious universities in various countries of Europe and Asia, including the Polytechnic University of Milan, Seoul National University of Science and Technology, Kazan State Energy University, Tashkent State Technical University named after Islam Karimov, Brest State Technical University, Center management of Innsbruck.

The university also cooperates with international organizations, in particular with the OSCE, participates in the international project “Improving higher education in Central Asia through modern technologies” (HiEdTec), within which university teachers have developed subject electronic online courses.

At the beginning of this year, it became known that the State Energy Institute of Turkmenistan was included in the members of the International Association of Universities (IAU).
