With a victory over the Philippines - 2:0, the football players of the youth team of Turkmenistan (not older than 17 years old) began their performance in the qualifying tournament of the Asian Cup-2023, which started in the Jordanian city of Zarqa.

In addition to these teams, three more teams - Jordan, Syria and Japan - are fighting in Group «A» for the right to participate in the final part of the competition.

In the opening match, which took place at the Prince Mohammad International Stadium, Batyr Shyhyyev’s wards did not experience any big problems, scoring a ball to the opponent in each half. Enver Annayev scored two goals and both from the penalty spot in the 20th and 64th minutes.

In another match of this group, in which the teams of Syria and Jordan met, the score was not opened.

Thereby, after the first round, the youth of Turkmenistan took the lead with 3 points. Peers from Jordan and Syria have 1 point each. The teams of Japan and the Philippines do not have points yet. However, the Japanese have not yet played a single game.

In the second round, the youth team of Turkmenistan will play with the team of Syria. In another match, the players of the Philippines and Japan will meet.

As a reminder, the winners of 10 qualifying groups and 5 best teams among the runners-up will advance to the final part of the Asian Youth Cup (U-17), which will be held from May 3 to 20, 2023 in Bahrain.

Following the results of the final stage, which is a qualification, the four best football teams will receive the right to represent Asia at the 19th Youth World Cup-2023 in Peru.
