Today in the afternoon, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov took part in the Summit «Central Asia - Russia», which was held in the capital of Kazakhstan.

Prospects for the development of friendly relations and the expansion of strategic cooperation between the six states were put on the agenda.

Before the start of the meeting, an official photographing ceremony of the leaders of the Russian Federation, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan took place.

Opening the Summit, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev gave the floor to the heads of state.

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov delivered a speech.

During the meeting, a detailed and interested exchange of views took place on the main aspects of cooperation between the Russian Federation and the countries of Central Asia. At the same time, an analysis and review of the implementation of previously reached interstate agreements was given, and priority vectors for further joint activities were identified.

As a result of the Summit, a Joint Declaration of the Heads of State was adopted, which includes key issues of regional partnership in the Eurasian space. This important document also reflects the prospects for further cooperation in the areas of politics and security, the trade and economic sector, and in the cultural and humanitarian area.

The visit of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov to the Republic of Kazakhstan continues.

Tomorrow, high-level talks will be held as part of the state visit of the head of Turkmenistan to the neighboring country. As expected, the meeting will discuss the main directions of a long-term fruitful interstate dialogue, successfully developed in a bilateral and multilateral format, including on the platform of leading international organizations - the UN, OSCE, CIS, ECO, and a number of others. As a result of the talks, it is planned to sign intergovernmental documents designed to help build up productive interaction.
