Upon completion of the Summit of the Organization of Turkic States in Samarkand, the ceremony was held to decorate Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of the Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan with the “Supreme Order of Turkic World”.
To the thunderous applause of those present, the President of Uzbekistan presented the “Supreme Order of Turkic World” to the Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of the Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan, which is awarded to persons who have made a significant contribution to strengthening solidarity between the Turkic-speaking peoples, developing cooperation between member states and increasing the recognition of the organization among the international community.
Having thanked the Organization of Turkic States for the high award, the Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of the Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan emphasized that he regards it as a sign of respect for Turkmenistan and the Turkmen people.
During the ceremony, Kyrgyz writer Chingiz Aitmatov was awarded the International Prize of the Organization of Turkic States named after Alisher Navoiy “For Contribution to the Unity of the Turkic World”.
