President Serdar Berdimuhamedov cordially congratulated Ms. Helga Schmid on the opening of a new building of the OSCE Center in Ashgabat, expressing gratitude for the awarding of the above certificates. It was emphasized that this fact is the recognition of the successful combination of efforts in the field of ecology, focused on specific outcomes.

During the meeting, it was noted that relations between Turkmenistan and the OSCE are fruitful. Consistent work is being carried out based on joint cooperation programs developed annually by the Government of Turkmenistan and the headquarters of the OSCE Center in Ashgabat.

International policy and security, which are attached paramount importance on the bilateral partnership agenda, was the topic of special attention. As was noted in this regard, security is the basic condition for the peaceful life of people. In the present-day world, each state must actively participate in the coordination of multilateral efforts aimed at maintaining regional and international security.

The use of political and diplomatic mechanisms is of particular importance in addressing topical issues on the global agenda, strengthening mutual trust and promoting constructive dialogue. It was noted in this regard that the International Conference “The Role of Neutral States in Strengthening Security, Stability and Dialogue in the OSCE Region”, organized by the Mejlis of Turkmenistan and the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, has been recently held in the Turkmen capital, which became a striking illustration of the fact that bilateral cooperation is complemented by parliamentary relations.

As President Serdar Berdimuhamedov pointed out, ensuring efficient and sustainable international transit of energy resources has a direct effect on the wellbeing and prosperity of the whole region. Turkmenistan, as the country rich in energy resources, is taking targeted measures to provide international energy security. In this context, the head of state stressed the appropriateness of carrying out concrete work within OSCE to promote transportation and transit of energy resources to the world market that covers political, financial, technological and environmental aspects.

During the meeting, the possibilities for developing cooperation in other priority areas, in particular, in the transport and transit sector, in the field of improving the performance of democratic institutions, ensuring human rights and freedoms, gender equality, etc., were also discussed.

At the end of the meeting, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Secretary General of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe Ms. Helga Schmid, expressed confidence in the steady development of a fruitful bilateral partnership and exchanged kind wishes.
