The 13th session of Turkmen – Uzbek Joint Commission for trade, economic, scientific, technical and cultural cooperation was held in Ashgabat. Representative delegation led by the First Deputy of Prime-Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan A. Ramatov arrived to Turkmen capital for participation.
The session, where heads and leading specialists of number of ministries and departments as well as representatives of entrepreneurship circles of both countries, was dedicated to the objectives of intensification of Turkmen – Uzbek dialog.
In this regard, the main attention was concentrated on strategy directions of bilateral cooperation where fuel and energy sector is one of the most important. Transnational gas main Turkmenistan – Uzbekistan – Kazakhstan – China, which was put into operation n December of 2009 and supplying Turkmen gas to China, is one of the largest project of cooperation in this sphere.
As is known, the neighbouring state supports the initiatives of our country for establishment of wide international partnership in transport sphere. Uzbekistan expressed its willingness to take an active part in formation of new transport and transit corridor Central Asia – Middle East (Uzbekistan – Turkmenistan – Iran – Oman), which implementation would allow to increase international transit cargo traffic and provide another essential route to the world markets.
Together with discussion of the issues in the economy, great attention was paid to traditional relations in cultural and humanitarian sphere. The side spoke on the intensification of scientific and educational contacts and development of cooperation in sports and tourism.
Having stated with delight that recently, legal and contractual base of intergovernmental relations was supplemented by new important documents defining specific sphere of application of mutual interests, the participants of the session confirmed unvariable intent to expand business contacts, which are promoted by regular bilateral meetings on different levels.
Relative protocol was signed by the outcomes of the session.
