The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Canada is accredited to Turkmenistan

Today, on behalf of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, Chairwoman of the Mejlis D. Gulmanova accepted credentials from the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Canada to Turkmenistan Alan Hamson.

On behalf of the head of the Turkmen state, the head of the national Parliament congratulated the diplomat on his appointment to a responsible post and wished him success in strengthening relations of friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

Thanking him for the kind words and hospitality, the Ambassador conveyed warm greetings and best wishes from the senior leadership of Canada to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov. As the diplomat emphasized, fulfilling the important mission entrusted to him, he, for his part, will make every effort to further develop a constructive interstate dialogue.

During the meeting, Mr. Alan Hamson was introduced to the key directions of the foreign policy strategy of neutral Turkmenistan, implemented by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, based on the principles of peace, good neighbourliness and mutually beneficial cooperation with all interested foreign partners. The diplomat was also informed about the large-scale programs and projects being implemented in our country aimed at the progressive growth of the national economy and improving the well-being of the people.

A separate topic of the conversation was the activities of the Mejlis and its role in the context of the democratic reforms launched in Turkmenistan, ensuring the legislative and legal basis for transformations that covered all spheres of life of the state and society. It was noted that the development of interparliamentary contacts would contribute to enriching the content of Turkmen-Canadian relations.

As part of the exchange of views on the prospects for bilateral cooperation, it was stated that there is great potential for expanding effective partnership in the trade and economic sphere and fruitful ties in the cultural and humanitarian field. The constructive nature of the political and diplomatic dialogue, interaction between the two countries in the UN format and other authoritative international organizations was also noted.

At the end of the meeting, confidence was expressed that traditionally friendly Turkmen-Canadian relations, based on many years of positive experience and mutual goodwill, will continue to develop successfully, acquiring new content.
