A seminar on improving the activities of customs and border services was held in Ashgabat

The employees of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan and its Training Center participated in the Regional consortium workshop for the heads of customs and border guard services’ training institutions from Central Asian countries.

The seminar was organized by the EU-funded Border Management Programme in Central Asia (BOMCA 10) under the thematic direction of "Institutional Development of Border Agencies." The main objective of the event was to promote cooperation and exchange of experience among educational institutions in Central Asia regarding the enhancement of the effectiveness of personnel training systems, as well as the development of efficient methods in the educational processes of customs and border agencies.

Participants were provided with a platform for enhancing cooperation and exchange of information on innovations in educational activities, as well as best practices in the educational process, including facilitation of trainer exchanges. The workshop included a session on developing participants' skills in leadership and personnel management. Participants familiarized themselves with the professional standards system and shared their experiences in using the system of motivation and evaluation of teachers’ performance in Central Asian and EU countries.

The seminar discussed the prepared annual cooperation plan of cooperation with the indication of topics and formats of training, including e-learning, on-site learning, study visits and exchange of teachers between departments. The theoretical sessions were complemented by a visit to the State Border Institute of Turkmenistan. After reviewing the institute's work, the participants provided recommendations on modern technical equipment, innovative developments and teaching methods used by the institute’s teacher during the training process.
