A special synthesizer has been developed to help people with visual impairment

From 8 to 12 January Innovation and Information Center Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan and the UN Children's Fund (UNICEF) conducted training on the use of a speech synthesizer in Turkmen language.

Participants of the classes got acquainted with the features application of the program for educational purposes, including for screen reading, accessing websites.

A speech synthesizer in the Turkmen language was presented in World Children's Day in November 2023. It allows people with visual impairments gain access to texts in Turkmen language using text-to-speech technology.

The development demonstrates the country's desire to expand educational opportunities for children and adults with visual impairment. The synthesizer is the result cooperation of the Ministry of Education, Global Assistive Technology Partnership "ATScale", Society blind and deaf people of Turkmenistan, Louder Pages company (manufacturers RHVoice) and UNICEF in Turkmenistan.
